Anthos House delivers its first-ever student to go on an internship – AnthosHouse

Anthos House delivers its first-ever student to go on an internship

Anthos House was established with the primary objective of preparing students to become independent and to equip them with the relevant skills to be self-sufficient. Over the last 3 years, we have had several successes to be grateful about; however, this month, we ticked another milestone by sending one of our students on an internship for the first time. Interestingly the student, Chimaroke, will intern as an assistant coach.

Chimaroke joined Anthos House three years ago, and through various class lessons and therapy sessions, he has improved on his essential life skills. Beyond that, he has developed some very good leadership qualities, along with his immense passion for sports which was identified through observation by his teachers. It was also observed that he is fond of helping younger children get along with the physical activities, especially during Physical Education (P.E) class and recess.

To help him pursue his passion and develop an understanding of work-related expectations in sports, he was given an opportunity to intern as an assistant coach at Greensprings School’s Lekki campus. Chimaroke will work directly with Coach Jesimiel Samuel, the Head of Lekki campus P.E department, who led Greensprings students to victory at World School Game 2020 in Dubai.

Speaking on the development, Coach Sam, said he is delighted to have him as an intern in the department. He said Chimaroke will be under his mentorship, and together, they will work with students in both elementary and secondary school.

The internship doesn’t stop Chimaroke from attending classes and therapy sessions, as this has been integrated into his Individualized Education Program (IEP). Chimaroke is the first Anthos House student to go on an internship to learn directly in the field. We believe more students will soon follow suit.
